Frequently asked questions

Here you'll find answers to the most common questions about installing, blocking, privacy and how it works under the hood.

Install and setup

How do I turn Allociao on?

Once it's installed, open Allociao and tap "Turn on protection". Android then offers to set Allociao as your default call-screening app. Confirm in two taps and protection is active straight away. No sign-up needed.

Why do I have to set it as the default call-screening app?

Android hands call screening to a single app at a time. For Allociao to check every incoming call before your phone rings, it needs to hold that role. If another app already had it, it'll be replaced. You can switch back at any time in your Android settings.

Is Allociao free?

Yes, completely free. No paid version, no subscription, no ads. Allociao doesn't monetise your data.

Is it available on iPhone?

Not yet. Allociao is currently available on Android only. An iOS version is planned, but there's no date set for now.

Blocking and false positives

How does a number get blocked?

On every incoming call, Allociao checks the number against official premium-rate and VoIP number ranges from the national numbering plan, plus community reports. The check happens right on your phone, with no network. If the number matches, the call is hung up automatically before your phone even rings.

A legitimate number is blocked — what do I do?

A number can end up in the database by mistake. Open Allociao, find the number in your history and tap "Allow". It'll be added to your allow list right away and will always come through. You can also report it so the data gets corrected.

Can my contacts be blocked?

No, never. Allociao doesn't filter numbers saved in your contacts: they always come through, whatever the list.

Can I block a number myself?

Yes. From your history, you can add any number to your personal block list. It's blocked immediately. You can also report it to the community to help other users.

Are withheld numbers blocked?

Yes, by default. Withheld numbers are often cold calls, so Allociao blocks them right from install. If you're expecting a legitimate withheld call (doctor, public service), you can turn the option off in the settings, under "Protection".

Levels and reporting

What is the "Suspect" level?

A "Suspect" number isn't blocked: the call rings, but Allociao warns you it looks like a cold call. If you've allowed it to show over the call screen, a small "Possible cold call" badge appears while it rings; otherwise you get a notification you can find after the call. By default, the VoIP operator ranges used for cold calling are set to "Warn me" (Suspect).

How do I change the way a number is handled?

From the Calls tab, tap a number: you can move it to Allowed, Suspect or Blocked. Your choice applies to its future calls. When you move it to Blocked or Suspect, the app also offers to report it to the community.

Can I report that a number is legitimate?

Yes. When you move a number to "Allowed", Allociao offers to report it as legitimate: a positive report that helps cut false positives for the whole community. You can add an optional comment, and like every report, it's anonymous.

Privacy

Do you have access to my call log or my contacts?

No. Allociao doesn't ask for permission to access your call log or your contacts. It only receives the incoming caller's number, long enough to decide whether to block it — and that's it. Android passes it that number directly, without the app ever accessing your full history.

What do you collect?

Allociao works with no account. If you choose to report a number, it's sent with a random identifier generated locally on your phone — never your phone number. No personal data is collected, stored on a server or resold.

Do you run ads?

No. No ads in the app, no advertising partnerships, no data passed to ad networks. Allociao is free and ad-free.

Battery and technical

Does Allociao drain my battery?

No. Allociao doesn't run a permanent background service. Android only wakes it up for each incoming call; it checks the local database in a few milliseconds, then stops. The impact on your battery is negligible — about the same as a notification.

Do I need an internet connection for it to work?

No. The database is embedded right inside the app and checked locally. So filtering works even with no connection, when roaming, or in airplane mode. A connection is only needed if you send a report or to update the database.
